Jury on Tectonic Cognition at the School of Architecture, PC-UPR

…if a machine behaved in a way that resembled human intelligence,
That was human intelligence.

- Classical Artificial Intelligence

The semester first project examines the premise of “Cognitive Response”. The students worked on videos, photography, sketches, diagramming, blueprints and 3-dimensional models documenting responsive behavior of animals and humans. Sequences of behavioral patterns were explored and traced in order to analyze fixed action patterns of biological structures to certain environmental stimuli. Horizontal forces/lateral loads from earthquakes, impact and turbulence from tsunamis and dry air from drought were investigated as the stimuli to which organisms respond.
